When I was a kid (back in the Jurassic era), my Dad would wave at fellow MB owners, and I remember fellow VW Bug owners do the same (although they probably got wrist cramps by the end of the drive).

The practice seemed to wane around the late 70's-early 80's, when the "yuppies" came into play...then you didn't meet owners who cherished the marque, but merely, people who bought for status.

Sometimes I nod at owners of the early MBs, and they nod back, as they seem to cherish their vintage pieces.

I get no response from drivers of late-model MBs, and I guess it follows the MB stereotype thread that many new MB owners aren't particularly MB owners for the love of the cars, but just consumers...
