Sounds like an excellent idea. When I stripped my '82 240D, the heater/ac box and controls went in the garage along with other items. Type I and III controls/ac are among the easier units to remove and repair. I could see replacing a PITA Type II unit with the Type I.

Keep us posted. It sounds like another listing to convert to a PDF file and burn to CD.
