Maybe try lubing the speedo cable. Remove it from the transmission and the back of the speedo, and spray your favorite lube in the speedo end and turn the cable inside the sheath, adding a little at a time untill you get stuff comming out the other end. Then keep turning it untill the trans end quits dripping.
