The 84 and 85 300SDs intake is in front the right hand side of the radiator so it gets plenty of air flow. I'm a little surprised that no one is making a "performance" intake retro fit kit for older models.


As far as fender intakes, I do know that the front fender well is a place where pressure builds up at speed. On the superbirds they actually put a rearward facing vent to improve aerodynamics by venting some of this pressure as well as helping to keep the front end planted on the ground. To me though it seems like a good place to suck up dust.
