if you remove the blade key and look inside on the side opposite of the indentation for the key hook you will see a piece of grey plastic with an arrow, with a small tool move the plastic in the direction of the arrow and simultaneously with your finger nails pull the top chrome piece out, doing this will expose the batteries.
