It is possible that the later 124s have more computerized stuff. The '87 (including mine) has almost none of that; the EGR can be completely removed along with the vacuum junk behind the right headlight and the ARV capped off. I haven't noticed any performance differences but the IM should be a lot cleaner inside without all that soot.
