The quote above is very true. BMW used Al-Si cyclinder walls that deteriorated due to the higher content of sulfur in American fuels. Don't be surprised to see that an engine replacement was performed on any of the above models by a BMW dealer. I've looked at many that had this service done. I'll still stick with MB over BMW any day after owning both.
