I don't know anyone who can run higher than b50 up here in the winter. Gelled fuel + plugged filters + high viscocity fuel = strain on IP + higher fuel system vacuum = air leaks + problems. Biodiesel usually gels at a higher temp than vegetable oil, and if that's the only fuel you have in your system, you're not going anywhere. If my WVO is gelled, that's OK because I start on diesel, and only switch to veg once it's warm enough to flow.

Anectodally, I know 3 people who I have met in person who's IP packed it in within the first week or two of running commercial b50. I haven't met anyone who's had that experience with WVO, and I've met a lot more of them.

Drop me a line if you come in Montreal area, I'll congratulate you in person.
Cheers,
Yep! I came here when I first started reading up on e300d's. Got lots of great advice, and got the wits scared out of me about om606 glow plugs. I'll actually be in montreal TWICE in the next couple months... once mid-may and then again for the Montreal GP... we'll have to meet up!

I get the same diesel/valvetrain noise over the idling engine, but there's definitely a thumping there that my 606 doesn't have.
I don't know! Ever since I started running unfiltered WVO, I've had that aweful noise and it's only running on 4 cylinders until it warms up, then it runs on 5.

just kidding! Actually when I first heard that video, I went right out to the car in my sock feet and started it up. No noise. I've never heard it... in fact I didn't even hear it when I was shooting that clip. Therory #1 is that it's a certain noise that the camera could pic up on but mere mortals can't hear. Theory #2 is that it was a noisy injector because there still some air in the lines... I've noticed noisy injectors on VWs and even my dad's 300sd if they get some air bubbles running through. Other than that, I really can't say... I have never, ever heard the noise other than in those 2 clips.
