One one hand it is a very touching story, and a great example of people treating each other with compassion and class.

On the other, dealing with injury is part of the competitive matrix that makes up sports. Good sportsmanship to me, is not this situation, but one in which you don't run up a score on a beaten opponent, or you don't throw your bat when you strike out and lose the game. Or you don't throw your clubs about (like tiger does). If the other members of the team or the coach wouldn't have been down with what the two activists did, then their conduct could be considered bad sportsmanship.
