I dropped the trans with my 81 300SD. I jacked the car up and put it on 4 or five 6 inch blocks. I believe the bolt by the oil filter housing requires two wrenches because that bolt doesn't thread into the block like the rest of them do. I went at it from the bottom. I might be a speacial case because the engine was previously pulled and rebuilt, I am in my early twenties with small hands. Those bolts weren't as tight as they should have been. good luck!
