A friend of my son did the same thing. Bought a Contour from somebody for $700, walked over, cut the belt and drove away. Then sold it for many times that.

It doesn't sit right with me. Seems wrong, unethical/immoral. Legal, sure it is.

It think I'd tell them what was wrong, or offer to fix it for $100. Nothing wrong with payment for a diagnosis/repair
