There are two ways around the special tool:

1) Make your own slide hammer using a long bolt that will thread into the pin and a weight such as a socket.

2) Get a bolt that will thread into the pin and add washers so the bolt doesn't bottom in the pin as you tighten. The bolt then acts as an extractor. You'll have to add washers as the pin starts to move out.
