Yes I custom bent a 3" pipe all the way back with a stainless flo-through muffler and duel stainless tips.
Its not loud at all …. However it does feel like it has more power... I'm at 32 -34 MPG on the highway

-removed the ADLA on top of the injector pump
-Adjusted the Waste gate for a little more boost
-Set the timing. 2-3 degrees advanced (replaced the timing chain as well)

What, at 55mph? Did you happen to correct for the new tire height with those wheels?

The 300SD makes what, 120hp/170tq? Take it for what it's worth... an econo-car with adequate power and acceptable performance. I drove my SDL with an open downpipe for a while when waiting for new exhaust, no power gains over a car with a full exhaust. Yes, gutted cat.
I have cut open stock exhaust systems on these W126s, resonators and mufflers... both are pretty much straight through in design. Unless you like wasting money, use that money for fuel, beers, whores, cigars, or whatever else tickles your fancy.
