I did a search and found a couple web sites that talk about it, such as:

What you have appears to be a Steyr-Mannlicher Model 1895 rifle or carbine (can't tell from your pics). It may be chambered in either 8x50 or 8x56 mm. As the name implies, it's a late 19th century design, though the rifles continued to be used through WWII.
