The lobes should be directly opposed to the highest point of the lifter, which I would say gets you at about a 1 o'clock position. Engine should sound smooth with regular clickety clack, but no nailing. Do a search on "coking" and you'll find a bunch of stuff. If you're running veggie, then you're at a high risk of coking injectors. Basically, from what I understand, it's the sugars, free fatty acids and monoglycerides burning in the chamber. I've heard that ip should be set 2 deg differential, meaning 26 deg for the 617. Good luck
