Old Dies, Go buy an NEW MB tumbler NOW! Do not pass go. Take you old tumbler out and spend the bucks for a MB VIN keyed Tumbler. My problem is a bit different as i don't have a key to put into my old tumbler to turn it to the position to remove the collar and tumbler. But you can Da&n well bet I'll put in a new MB tumbler keyed to the VIN in this car just as soon as I get the wrinkles ironed out of my problem. DO NOT DINK AROUND WITH AN OLD LOCK. IF you can get the key to turn to get the tumbler out DO IT NOW! before it will not come out. New tumbler has TWO pins protruding out the back that actuate the steering lock. Your locksmith treated you right, mine will rip me off for $125.00 to come and make me a key so I can get the old tumbler out. Still it is worth it not to have to tear into the steering to grind off the post to take apart the switch/lock assy. TOO MUCH WORK and then you have no steering lock again.
