I have had some success cleaning under the gasket and resealing with windshield caulk (not regular silicone) but if its been leaking a while theres rust under there. The rear gasket on my 85 started to show a drip on one side and I fixed that, figuring there wasn't time for any rust to start. A new gasket on my higher mileage 79 fixed the problem but the glass shop had to deal with a little rust under there.
