Already know this is placing myself in front of the guru firing line..but am through with the stock air intake system.
Mostly with the fact on how the oil separator functions dumping blowby back into the turbo/intake manifold.
Cleaned the intake after the EGR modification two summers ago, and am amazed at how much crap is back in there with <15K.
Some oil 'mist'
might be good to lubricate the turbo, but definitely not the cake that is present.
Aside from the 'hot air intake', increased flow of particulates, and defeat of the highly engineered german system..
what OTHER significant obstacles are present?? Have an external oil separator worked out, on paper.
Think am willing to sacrifice the bads, for the
potential upsides..quicker turbo spooling alone.
