These are very special places. I have been able to visit a number of WWI and II cemeteries (allied and axis) in Europe, and they are all very, very special. Last time I was in Germany we happened past one full of allied airmen in Bavaria; there has recently been a memorial ceremony of some sort performed by the British army or RAF and some of the notes that loved ones had left on wreaths were really touching (see attached).
