Interior engine rust - beyond help?
I've been hesitating to post this, but my $100 1976 240D (very good body and most else) has rust in the valve train, with some showing on the injector tips too. I bought this as a project and am not hesitant to replace the engine (if I can find one, that is). Before all that, is there some net wisdom on derusting an engine that works? I haven't really reefed on it yet, but preliminary attempts to manually crank over at crankshaft are failing. Rings could have become one with cylinder walls - ycch.
Any hope for this one? Or, have a beer and get on with my life .....
