I've fixed a several 123 odos using the 'crimp the shaft with a small bolt cutter, using a drill to follow the shaft" method.

Sometimes it seems your right on the edge of bending the shaft getting that crimped on keeper "hammered' off or putting it back on. I watched a friend do it and he bent that sucker. Keeping the gear on the shaft seems like the easy part
