The Mercedes dealership carries lug bolts that have a piece of polished metal permanently laminated to the face of bolt head. The body of the bolt is made of the usual material.
I saw them when I was there trying to find lug bolts of the right length for my 190D; the parts guy brought out all of the bolts they had so that we could compare the lengths.
I don't recall the exact finish of the metal they used (chrome vs. SS) but it was definitely more attractive than the conventional bolt head. It was just a single layer over top of the face of the bolt head (maybe 16-18ga material), it didn't extend down the sides of the bolt head at all.
I didn't inquire about buying the fancy bolts so I don't know much more about them - the ugly looking regular bolts were already too expensive for me!
