Originally those connectors were designed for a engine tester that was never used by MBNA. The US cars eventually had lambda control monitored there and there was a small box made by Bosch that could be used to monitor Lambda. A euro car of that age wouldn't have lambda though.

The original tester could have looked at engine speed and timing and battery voltage.

Not only is there no ABS data there, but there is no self diagnostics on the early ABS systems anywhere. Testing was done with the Bosch LED tester or by individual circuit testing.
