On your 606.962 you just want to replace the spring that provides the tension. They snap with age which is why they are encased in rubber hose so the pieces don't go flying.

Dealers usually keep them in stock.

Do check the roller pulley and make sure its sealed bearings spin freely and w/o wobbling. Occassionally it is goes out too.

There is a diagram of the belt routing under the hood; on the computer box lid I think.

Tie a string to the belt, fish it up and "pull" the doubled over belt up through the tight spot between harmonic balancer and fan pulleys and up onto the roller pulley.
