Basically, you need to change the valve setup that cuts off the hot water from the passenger compartment.

You have three choices that I can think of off the top of my head...
- A straight through pipe. Not ideal since you always have heat and the engine will take more time to warm up because it's always warming the passenger compartment.

- A manual valve. The down side is activating the valve. The quick and dirty way is to open the hood, change the setting and then close the hood. Fancier ways to do it is to run a cable like it was a manual choke or yet another hood latch. The plastic body valve for an early 116 or 107 is simplest to buy new. If you have access to older parts cars, the metal one for any older benz will do too.

- An electric valve and then plumb in a manual on/off switch. Not a thing to buy new. Any dead car with a monovalve should supply the needed part.
