quick comment on head work on 123 300D's

Anyone notice the design flaw in these heads....the hole for the guide lug located on the manifold side of the 4th cylinder is very very close to the cylinder...so close that the hole in the gasket cuts halfway into the seal ring around the cylinder. What the hey?!?!? Why, why, why, would MBZ engineers not have moved this lug 1/4 inch away so as not to interfere with the seal ring of the gasket around the combustion chamber?!?!?!? Unbelievable!
