I cut my teeth on a 68 MGB and later, when the mid-life crisis hit, I wanted a Miata (1990) when they came out. But it was too expensive , so I bought a TR-7 to backup the Toyota MR2 I had, followed by a TR-6 that was a near basket case. I sold those but still have a TR4a and Spitfire MkIII. The TR4a is loads of fun- the Spit is just kinda scary.
