If the switch is riveted together, it may be possible to drill or grind the rivets and disassemble it. What can you lose? It may be a very simple fixable problem that you can find by inspection. When you open it up, watch for little parts that may fall out of position, and spring-loaded assemblies that may be tricky to deal with. I've fixed things this way that otherwise would have had to be sent halfway across the country to a factory and repaired by replacing parts that I fixed in a few minutes once I had the thing apart. Go for it!!
