Health Insurance is a SCAM (rant)

Recently I became a full time employee of the company i've worked for, for 6 years. Part of the full time employment is health benefits.

Prior to turning 25 I had been covered by my dads insurance because I was in school. now that I'm out of school and working its time for me to get my own insurance.

I'm a pretty healthy person. I don't get sick easily, and I don't complain a lot. When I was a kid I use to go to the Doctor (a very old guy) when I was sick, and he use to fix me. when I had an ear infection he used a vacuum device that was most likely from the 50s to suck the crud out of my ear. it hurt like hell. He also gave me injections and other minion surgeries, all from his office. I have never been to a hospital. needless to say when he retired I stopped having a doctor. I've gone to the clinic several times, but never to the same doctor.

I don't like doctors. ever since my doctor retired I haven't met a doctor that fixed people. they all ether prescribe drugs, or refer you to a specialist. none of them actually do anything. they use their degrees to force you to pay high prices and then give you advice you could get from a trained pharmacist.

Before my dads insurance ran out I went into the clinic for a physical. figured it would be a good thing to know where I was before I gave up the coverage. The doctor started the physical by telling me I was fat (just in case the mirror didn't tell me) and then went on to tell me he wanted to test me for Diabetes. Umm OK Doc. So I drive a cross town to another clinic to get my blood drawn (because the doctor must not know how to draw blood). Then 2 weeks later I come back and the doc gives me the physical, and tells me, "Besides being overweight you are perfectly healthy."

Shocked and Amazed (not really) I leave the doctors office.

I turn 25, and I'm now uninsured. My boss doesn't like this, my dad doesn't like this. everyone I know doesn't like the fact that I'm uninsured.

I feel relieved! I love not being insured. I'm no longer paying into a system that supports yo-yo doctors that can't even draw blood.

At the change to the year my boss gives me the full time position and gives me a budget to get insured. I told him I'm not exactly excited about getting insurance but look into it anyway. I decide to get Kaiser, it seems like a simple enough insurance plan. (I understand the plan, that is a plus!)

Well, Kaiser turns me down. Stating that I have a medical condition that prevents me from becoming a member of Kaiser. ummm.... OK...

My boss is now "helping" me find another insurance plan.

But I don't care. The system is so F-ed that I don't care. In fact I'm pretty sure my boss could do better things with the budget he is offering me. I know I could!
