Most full coverage policies cost many hundred of dollars per month, say $500. You haven't needed meds in 24 months = $12,000. $12,000 - $400 = $11,600.

Let's say you put that $11.6K into several CD's and continue doing so until you real ol'fartdom -- mid-40's and then get catastrophic insurance.
