I'm in the exact same predicament. Mine was bent, but I think I am going to replace it with a new one. I don't think bending it back will look right. I don't know how to get it off either, but I think that we're going to have to take the entire plastic moulding off, and then the chome strip is attached from behind somehow. My best guess.
