Before deciding whether or not to do the timing chain yourself, you may want to R&R the left side valve cover and inspect the rails. It is very common for the inner rail on this side to break when the chain starts to 'slap'. The rail pins can be stubborn to remove... and many techs remove the rocker arms before rolling in the new chain. It is not a hard job, but you have to be careful! No shame in backing away from this type of engine maintenance, a mistake usually means bent valves....
