Hi folks,

I own a 87 300DT Sedan. Over the past week or so when I start up the car, there is a high pitched screeching noise coming from around the passenger side glove box. After a minute or two, it stops. I am assuming for now it is vacuum related. More ominously after work, I started up my car and got on the freeway. It did not shift into 4th, so I pulled over and adjusted the trans cable nut (aka bowden cable nut) to shift earlier. It worked...gotta love these mechanically adjustable features! But I am thinking that it might be related to this noise and whatever the underlying cause is. I'm going to check the trans fluid now, but has anyone experienced the same sound? And if yes, what was the reason and what was the fix?
