I believe it was Brian Carlton who was keeping track of the readings different member got when they did it both ways. If he reads this maybe he will chime in.
Lining up the mark is exceptionaly close but only if you do it with care nd get your face down their near the marks to make sure if they are lined up.
If you are observing at any sort of an angle and from a foot or 2 away you decrease your chances of lining it up accurately.
Not a bad idea to do it 1-2 time more after the 1st reading to see if you get the same degrees each time.
