You do mean idling, right? In what temperature? At 90F, my car won't idle for long without demand for the auxiliary fan.

You may be a bit low on refrigerant. But don't just blindly add the stuff. At the very least, check the high-side pressure. Note the temperatures: ambient, interior and vent.
