Headlamp warning buzzer issues

When I purchased my 450SL,some previous owner had replaced the original fog lamps with mini "projector" lamps that were unattractive and didn't work very well.
I was able to source the original style lamps, and found that the wiring was mostly intact, and had been "spliced" near the lamp assemblies.Do remember that the projector lamps did function, just not well.
Upon replacement I now have working original lamps but the warning buzzer which worked before now seems "backwards".
There is no buzzer at any time with the key off and lighting on.With key in run position and lights on the buzzer operates all the time!
As this appeared to be OK before I'm guessing it almost has to be something with the wiring to the fogs.
I tried unplugging the 4 pin drivers door switch but this made no difference.
I even tried unplugging the 12V power from both lamps but I still get buzzer with lights on and car running.
I'm at wits end trying to figure this out.My only solution so far is to just pull the offending buzzer but I don't really want to lose the "safety" of the warning system if I can help it.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!
