I like the 3M products. I've used their trim adhesive with some success. I like to clean the aluminum surfaces first with 3M adhesive remover. 3M also makes a blue masking tape, available in most building supply or paint stores, that is guaranteed not to leave adhesive behind for a full week. Also I use Meguiar's #7 and #26 to polish any wood that has to come out of the car.
