Thanks for bringing this back; I got it!
This time I didn't use my Motive power bleeder but I simply used the old tried method of filling the brake fluid reservoir then pump n' bleed
I am guessing like some have mentioned that the power bleeder somehow introduced air in the system. I have used that power bleeder on all of my cars before without problems but this time was different.
Anyway, the pedal is firmer and the car stops on a dime.
