smoke and turbo

1985 300sd. Runs GREAT. . . But smoke at start from stop sign. From previous threads, consensus says that it may be the turbo seals. Past thread describes oil pooling on intake side at low speed and not getting into intake/engine until after takeoff from stop. Sounds exactly like what I have. Blowby in valve cover is very little-pulled cap while running. Very little oil in air cleaner housing, as I fixed the separator per thread instructions. It is DEFINITELY oil burning at takeoff. White and smells like it. Any good way of testing the turbo seals, or should I remove and check for wet areas? Confuzzzed. Hope it isn't an engine going out.??????
