5th gear in a 2.2l 190D is highway only and only above 65mph, I wouldn't mind going lower in gearing but taller gears are gonna eat up all my get up and go... We're not talking about a seriously quick car anyway.

Well, for a highway car, who's gunna need get up and go?
That on ramp might be a little tricky with the 0-60 time being 20 years, but it'll still go and it'll go a few yards farther. It depends on the driver. Not too big of a difference in initial acceleration. You may not be able to do a wheel hop start as much as with the 3.46, but the 3.23 still moves the car along quite nicely. It's all up to what you want and how you want things done. I just have a differential lying around.
