If the transmission is slipping then you have another problem on your hands. Is the fluid topped off and at the correct level? When was the last time the fluid (all of it) and filter been changed?
I was referring to the accessory belt. If the alternator isn't charging at idle (which it should) then you may have a weak belt, or don't have sufficient tension on the belt. These cars don't have sufficient electrical systems for big sound systems. If you made it work, all the better for you.
