Do the prices shown "before options" reflect a non-US version which would have been augmented before being sent here?
My mom's 84 had memory seats. Other than that I can't tell you what options were available. Our dealer in Bellevue Washington ordered about half of them with sunroof and Leather, and some with just a sunroof. Those were both options. Most of the 300SDs I've seen in Utah came with MB-tex. Most 116s and 1981 300SD's I've seen came with MB-tex. AFAIK Cruise, ACC, pwr windows and locks, pwr seats and alloy wheels were standard on US w126 300SD's. Metallic paint was also an extra cost option.

By the late 80's the US$ was strong, prices had stabilized and Mercedes responded by making more items standard. The huge price increases between 1970 and 1988 or so, had as much to do with the strong German Mark, as the US $. In 1970 the exchange rates were aprox. 4DM for $1 US Dollar, but by 1990 a US $ could be had for about 1.6DM.
