As the Aux Fan Turns...So are the days of my life

Continuing on my journey to discovering the solution to my overheating problem, I have begun my next challenge:

I am trying to remove the aux fan shrowd from my 92' w124 300D. Do I need to remove the radiator and condensor in order to do this?

I can see that they pivot forward, but meet resistence from the metal line to the condensor. Can I disconnect this line wothout causing harm and have enough room to remove shrowd?
