I just had mine replaced in my 97 E300D as well. For a couple of days aftern I had the nailing at idle, but the nailing at speed is now gone.
****UPDATE***** At speed nailing is still gone. Drove about 800 miles this weekend and quiet as a mouse. The nailing I used to get at upshifts just before the drop in RPMS is gone also.
