Maybe he's a PawnBroker?

Have you ever noticed that when you are in a pawn shop what ever you brought in the door is "worthless" while the 2 or 3 identical items in their inventory command a kings ransom and are so precious to the Pawn Broker that he couldn't possibly part with them unless of course you were willing to pay an obscene amount of money?
