I've been looking for a 240d or 300d on CL for awhile and got this reply when emailing about more information...

The car has 269K, it doesn't have any slack or flarring in the trans but you do occassionaly have to let your foot off the accerlerator to let it upshift. He was told it was the vacumm valves on the top of the valve cover. This is not a big issue at all it drives perfect and shifts just fine. He has gotten used to it and has not worried with it. Other than the A/C there are no known issues with the vehicle. I forgot to state my friend had an hydrogen fuel cell added to the car to give it better fuel economy. Let me know if you have anymore questions, he left the keys with me to be able to show the car.
