These are the pinnacle of the "tuning" era cars, cost-no-object items that ran rings around exotics back in their day, and bonafide collector cars. And special because AMG was not owned by MB back then, the parts are unobtanium, etc.

Of course compared to today they are lame, I drive a $20K 625HP Mercedes every day. But that's like saying a Testarossa is not a special collector car because it "only" has 380HP and newer Ferraris have over 500. These two cars have the same HP as a Testarossa from back then!

So of course they are outdated by today's cars and technology, but to me that does not make them any less desired. In fact, geared for 180MPH, they will outrun MANY of today's supercars that are governed to 130 or 155 from the factory.
