Condensation coming from the exhaust of a cold engine is common, and it is sometimes contaminated with soot. As the prior poster suggested, I would keep a close eye on the coolant level, and make close inspections of the engine itself to see if you can find any seepage from the head to the block. You make no mention of where the radiator failed. If it leaked from the top portion, there is the possibility that coolant may have sprayed onto the engine, and that was what you saw coming from the engine. As for the ticking sound, that may be more difficult to pin down. My suggestion to you would be to drive the car on short trips, and see how it performs. If it is a head gasket, you will know soon enough. Also, keep a close eye on the oil level and any signs of brown sludge on the dipstick. That can be an indication of coolant getting into the oil.
