My car had developed a persistent rumbling/growl/whirr noise on the right front, definitely more pronounced when turning. I was all ready to do the wheel bearings, since the front is definitely more manageable than the rear in most cases.

Well just before I was almost fed up with the noise..... I rotated the tires front to back..... since they were due. Well, the noise immediately disappeared and soon showed up on the rear! I tracked it down to a bent inner lip on the wheel! Got it fixed and all is well.

Most likely not your problem, but jack it up and spin the wheels, take the wheel off and inspect.
