Check the ground strap from the body to the engine.

I had the battery light stay on with the key removed. before that, I had the temp gauge bounce around, and some time seem normal, then peg all the way to the top.

this had me pulling my hair out trying to get to the bottom of it.

I checked the ground strap, and it was tight. but later decided to remove it just to see if there was some corrosion under it.

I had replaced the engine with a new rebuilt. well it had been painted, and that kept it from getting a good ground. scraped off the paint and everything is back to normal.
funny thing is, the engine was in the car 2 yrs before this developed.

I knew it was a ground, just didn`t know where.
